We just received an e-mail from Melissa, our daughter-in-law. She arrived in Indonesia safely! She's embarking on her Fulbright Scholarship there.....what an adventure! Todd is staying in Pasadena and continuing to teach at Culver City Middle School. He'll fly over to Indonesia for his Spring break. After school lets out for the summer, Todd's going to join Melissa until she finishes her research which should be in December. He'll be working on a photographic project while there. They're great kids and we're very proud of them.

Google Unveils New Talent
Several years ago I somehow became the family curator--the keeper of family photographs, documents, and pardons. If true be told (rare for this blog) I had really wanted the job of family treasurer! I haven't really done much with the piles of material yet except I did have old 16MM movies and videos converted to digital DVDs . I thought I'd share an excerpt from one which, I think, you'll find entertaining if a bit embarrassing (for the performer actually)! I'll apologize up front for the poor quality of the video, but it was shot with a terrible camera with even worse lighting conditions.

Cabrillo Still Sailing the Seven Seas?
The photograph below was taken by a docent colleague of mine at Piedras Blancas Light Station several miles north of San Simeon. The "tall" ship had just been at Morro Bay and was on its way to San Francisco. My imagination kicked in and I thought I was witnessing Juan Cabrillo sailing past Piedras Blancas in 1549!

oh wow, i love it! you should send that to american idol, i bet he would get an automatic ticket to hollywood.
nice piece of editing there!
Aren't there subject consent issues with this post? And, though that charming young man with undeniable theatrical talent seems well poised, he is still a minor in that video, no?
I'm not sure if it fits into the approved style guide from Google, either. Just a hunch.
I see this as a permissions violation. I'm off to look for the "report inappropriate content" button.
OHMYGOSH, does that ever bring back memories! (good ones, of course) - I believe your daughter should get some creds, too - the lead singer is only as good as his backup group (spoken from an Alto - the ultimate backup.)
Very clever with the moon/UFO, too.
Kudos!!
